ARP Firmware

Not sure which you have? Check the model number on the back of your ARP. Mark 2 firmware will not run on a Mark 1, or the other way round.

Before you update

  • Make sure the firmware matches your ARP — Mark 2 or Mark 1, chosen above.
  • Plug ARP directly into your computer, not through a USB hub.
  • Close your DAW, and anything else holding ARP's MIDI ports open.
  • Do not disconnect the cable or cut power while the update is running.

Installing

ARP is updated with the free Teensy Loader application. The whole thing takes a couple of minutes.

  1. Download the .hex file above. (The .zip holds the same firmware, as midicake.ARP.Firmware.ino.hex.)
  2. Install Teensy Loader for your operating system, if you don't already have it.
  3. Connect ARP to your computer with a USB cable and power it on.
  4. In Teensy Loader, choose File > Open HEX File and select the .hex file.
  5. Make sure the (green) Auto button is selected.
  6. Press the UPDATE button on the back of the unit, next to the USB port.
  7. ARP should restart within a couple of seconds with the new firmware.

The manual covers updating in more detail: ARP User Manual.

If the update fails, or ARP won't boot afterwards

It is almost always recoverable — the bootloader lives in separate hardware and a failed flash cannot erase it. Run the update again with the correct file for your Mark, or ask in Discord and we'll walk you through it.

All releases

Every version stays available at a permanent address. If a release doesn't suit you, downloading the previous one and flashing it is the way back.

Verifying your download

Optional, and worth doing if you got the file from anywhere other than this page. The result should match the SHA-256 shown with the download above.

Windows

certutil -hashfile ARP.hex SHA256

macOS

shasum -a 256 ARP.hex

Linux

sha256sum ARP.hex
